Tax Contribution Report 2018

As a signatory to the Board of Taxation's voluntary Tax Transparency Code, this year we have published our third Tax Contribution Report.

Message from the Chief Financial Officer

I am pleased to present Origin's 2018 Tax Contribution Report, detailing the taxes we paid in the 2017 and 2018 financial years.

Our disclosure in this report aligns with the recommendations of the Board of Taxation's voluntary Tax Transparency Code, which aims to increase transparency around how much tax businesses pay and why.

We recognise that our stakeholders want to know whether companies are meeting their taxation obligations. We are open about our tax arrangements and comply with all applicable tax laws and regulations. We are committed to providing a high level of transparency in relation to our approach to tax and helping the community understand our approach.

In the 2018 financial year, we paid $114 million to federal and state governments in income tax, payroll tax, royalties, excise, and fringe benefit tax.

As a leading integrated energy company, Origin creates significant economic value through the development and operation of our large-scale projects. As well as paying taxes, we contribute to Australia's economic growth through employment, purchasing goods and services, and on community and infrastructure investments.

Our commitment to making a positive contribution-to the communities in which we operate and the broader Australian economy-is clear within our purpose: Getting energy right for our customers, communities and planet.

I am proud to share our third voluntary report.

Lawrie Tremaine
Chief Financial Officer
