What is 'Adopted Storage'?
With the release of Android 6.0(the Marshmallow) a new feature officially named 'Adopted Storage' was introduced, enabling cellphones with a microSD slot to 'adopt' the storage of an inserted microSD. Specifically, this allows the external storage to merge with the device's embedded storage, combining into a single large 'storage pool'.
