SYLMAR, Calif., Nov. 2, 2018 - PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced that the PPG Foundation recently invested nearly $50,000 in seven California organizations in support of youth education. The grants were made in the third quarter of 2018 on behalf of PPG's aerospace business, which operates an administrative office and plant in Sylmar, California.

The grant recipients and funding purposes were:

  • American Association of University Women : $6,000 in scholarships for seven young women from the Santa Clarita Valley in California to attend the organization's Tech Trek science and math camp.
  • Gregg Anderson Academy: $5,000 to support two FIRST® LEGO® League robotics competition teams and an after-school club.
  • Palmdale High School: $10,000 for the school's green car program, where students build and race a solar car.
  • Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs< /a>: $5,000 to support Creative Electronics, which is an after-school program that aims to help more than 150 girls learn technology skills and introduce them to technology careers.
  • Soul Spa Foundation : $10,000 for the S.T.R.E.A.M. Kids Expo, which gives students an opportunity to explore science, technology, reading, engineering, arts and manufacturing-based activities and exhibits.
  • Summit View Schoo l: $5,000 for the school's FIRST robotics team to attend competitions.
  • Valley Family Cent er: $8,000 for the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) component of an after-school tutoring program for children with special learning needs.
