HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Oct. 4, 2019 - PPG (NYSE: PPG) announced that its Huntsville, Ala. plant will host more than 40 teachers and students from Madison County Career Tech Center today.

The event is being held to mark National Manufacturing Day, organized by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which aims to address labor opportunities, connect with future generations of manufacturers and ensure success of the manufacturing industry.

'Through today's event, we aim to demonstrate the vast career potential the manufacturing sector has to offer,' said Tom Meyer, PPG plant manager, Huntsville. 'By seeing our plant operations and employees in action, students are able to gain real-world exposure to the range of opportunities. We are thrilled to host such eager and bright students and hope to inspire them to pursue a career in Huntsville's manufacturing industry.'

The students from Madison County Career Tech Center will explore employment opportunities and education options, hearing first-hand from PPG employees about their personal education paths and daily responsibilities.

'Participation in Manufacturing Day at PPG peaks our students' interests year-after-year,' said Katie Jewart, Madison County Schools career coach. 'The exposure to career opportunities they receive on Manufacturing Day goes beyond what we are able to teach in the classroom. Speaking directly with PPG employees and witnessing the robust opportunities within manufacturing is truly a unique experience.'

The students will participate in a tour of the plant to witness first-hand the steps required to produce glass used on airliners, helicopters, military aircraft and more. The group will also experience quality procedures used to test glass strength resistance against birds in-flight.

PPG's Huntsville facility employs approximately 750 people and produces transparencies for the commercial and military aerospace industry.
