On 13 March 2020, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. announced its plan to buy back its shares which has been issued and recorded at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), as disclosed in the BRI Letter No. B.427- DIR/SKP/03/2020. The maximum of buyback shares is IDR 3 trillion, exclude brokerage commission and other transaction related expenses, and it will be executed in the period of 3 months, from 13 March 2020 to 12 June 2020, by taking into accounts BRI's capital and liquidity condition and in accordance with applicable regulation. The total buyback shares shall not exceed 20% of the paid in capital, on condition that the minimum outstanding shares is 7.5% of the paid capital.
With the assumption that BRI will use the internal cash for the share buyback, the Total Asset and Total Equity will decrease IDR 3 Trillion, and it will not give material impact to the BRI's operational expenses thus the profit- loss is estimated maintains in line with the target. The implementation of shares buyback is estimated will not decrease the company's revenue and have minimum impact on financing costs. BRI confidence that the execution of shares buyback will not give negative material impact on the company's business activities as BRI has sufficient working capital dan cashflow to support the operation as well to execute the transaction.
