Public Service : Girl Scouts of Nassau County Earn the PSEG Long Island ‘Energy Patch’

PSEG Long Island patch program helps Girl Scouts build STEM skills

(Uniondale, NY - Mar. 12, 2019) - PSEG Long Island and the Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) have partnered to offer the Energy Patch to encourage girls to learn about electricity and the importance of safety and energy conservation.

The Energy Patch program was introduced to the GSNC earlier this year and offered to 1,500 troops across Nassau County. Hundreds of girls have begun to participate in the program.

'Partnering with the Girl Scouts of Nassau County to offer young women the opportunity to learn about electricity, electric safety and energy efficiency is just another way we are contributing to developing tomorrow's women leaders in STEM,' said Andrea Elder-Howell, vice president of Legal at PSEG Long Island and GSNC board member. 'We congratulate the girls who already completed the educational requirements and have become the first to earn the Energy Patch in Nassau County.'

Approximately 30 girls from Daisy troop 3605 and Junior troop 3060 were the first to ceremoniously receive the PSEG Long Island Energy Patch at an electric safety presentation in Seaford, N.Y.

Elder-Howell congratulated the girls, who also enjoyed an electric safety program presented by personnel from PSEG Long Island. A video and photos from the event are located at www.youtube.com/psegli .
