Northern California Division Provides Makeover for Homefirst's Welcome Center

With over 28,000 homeless residents in the nine-county Bay Area, HomeAid Northern California - a non-profit provider of housing and the charitable arm of the homebuilding industry - plays a key role in helping to rebuild the lives of this at-risk population. PulteGroup's Northern California Division has been a HomeAid supporter since its founding 20 years ago, and the local team recently completed a needed renovation project for HomeAid partner HomeFirst's James Boccardo Welcome Center.

As the largest homeless services center in Santa Clara County (San Jose), California, the Center operates year-round, 24 hours a day, providing shelter and transitional housing as well as a wide array of critical services. PulteGroup answered the call to renovate the Center's lobby and sleeping quarters, which houses 250 homeless men and women each night, with Jeff Scofield, Division Vice President of Procurement, leading the team as Builder Captain.

With the help of our trade partners, the remodeling job transformed the reception area, while also adding privacy walls for the sleeping areas and providing a separate sleeping space for homeless veterans. The Pulte team put the finishing touches on the job with a day of painting, giving the renovated lobby and sleeping quarters a bright new coat of paint, providing residents with a more dignified and welcoming space during their time at the Center.
