Public-Private Partnership Allows Adaptive Reuse of Former Industrial Site

PLYMOUTH, MI, July 11, 2019 - Pulte Homes hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking with state and local officials June 28 for the new Townes at Mill Street community in downtown Plymouth. With a focus on connectivity and convenience, the community of 76 low-maintenance townhomes will serve as a welcome addition to Plymouth's downtown corridor.

Pulte will redevelop close to 10 acres of the former Bathey Manufacturing site utilizing $1 million of Brownfield Redevelopment grant funding awarded to the Plymouth Brownfield Redevelopment Authority by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE). To celebrate the successful partnership that brought the project to fruition, Pulte executives were joined at the groundbreaking by Plymouth Mayor Oliver Wolcott and Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Chair Colleen Pobur, in addition to Daniel Gough and Brandon Alger from EGLE, Wayne County Commissioner Melissa Daub and state Rep. Matt Koleszar.

'This project is a great example of public-private collaboration at its best,' said Pulte Homes of Michigan President Kevin Christofferson. 'Working in partnership with city and state officials, we have the opportunity to thoughtfully redevelop and reuse this centrally located but long vacant site, bringing an outstanding townhome community to downtown Plymouth.'

According to Mayor Wolcott, 'this is a transformational project for the City of Plymouth on the most challenging piece of property in town. This project would not be possible without the support of the State of Michigan and Pulte Homes of Michigan.'

The community will offer Pulte's Life-Tested® floorplans which include up to 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, 2-car attached garages, and over 1,850 square feet of living space. The open concept designs connect kitchens with spacious gathering rooms and provide families with spaces that fit their everyday living needs. Consumer inspired layouts and options will allow buyers to customize their living spaces and finishes. Prices for the townhomes will start from the low to mid $300s.

As a convenient, walkable community, the Townes at Mill Street amenities are tailored towards multi-modal transportation, including a path that provides pedestrian and bike access to Main Street, an on-demand pedestrian crossing signal on Mill Street which safely connects residents to Hines Park, plus several other onsite amenities and gathering places. The vibrant, family-friendly community offers easy access to close-by shopping and dining and a location within the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools district.

Pulte started development activities on the site in June, with plans to open Townes at Mill Street in late 2019. For more information about the project or to join the interest list for Grand Opening updates, please visit www.pulte.com/townesatmillstreet.
