Mubasher: Renault and its Chinese partner Brilliance signed a strategic cooperation alliance with officials in Liaoning Province to boost further growth of light commercial vehicles (LCV) in China.
In addition, the French car giant confirmed plans for three new LCVs for China within the coming two years, which were announced last year.
“Ten months after our initial launch of our joint venture in China with Brilliance, we have a local management team in place, LCV product plan to deliver further growth with seven LCVs for China including three electric LCV models, starting in early 2019,” Renault’s CEO Carlos Ghosn said.
In the beginning of this year, Renault and Brilliance signed a contract to establish a joint venture (JV) to build and sell LCVs, including the brands Renault, Jinbei and Huasong, with the aim of reaching 150,000 sales per annum by 2022.
The JV, with its manufacturing operations, is headquartered in the Dadong District of Shenyang, and produces in three main segments, multi-purpose vehicles, medium vans and heavy-duty vans. The LCV models would be added to its range soon.
