• Upgrade path easier for many aircraft types with new approved model list supplemental type certificates (AML-STCs)
  • Both Part 23 and Part 25 now available

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (July 10, 2018)﹘Rockwell Collins' ADS-B Out Part 25 approved model list supplemental type certificate (AML-STC) has been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This path includes the latest TDR-94/94D Mode S Transponder variant to help aircraft owners meet the rapidly approaching December 2019 mandate. This certification covers multiple aircraft models from Bombardier, Gulfstream Aerospace, Sabreliner Aviation and Textron Aviation.

This new ADS-B Out certification pairs the newest transponder variant with either a Rockwell Collins GPS-4000S Global Positioning System Sensor or FreeFlight Systems 1203C SBAS/GNSS position source. In addition, it also supports VIVISUN® ADS-B FAIL annunciators with integrated ARINC 429 to discrete signal conversion capability from Applied Avionics.

The latest transponder improvement automatically generates a fixed flight ID from the Mode S code for U.S. registered aircraft. For customers that don't have a flight ID to send from a controller, this removes the need to upgrade other parts of the avionics system to become compliant.

'The December 31, 2019, mandate is rapidly approaching and a significant number of aircraft are not yet compliant,' said Craig Olson, vice president and general manager, Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins. 'Our ADS-B Out solutions are in service and available. Operators should be scheduling their upgrades now so they meet the mandate deadline.'

Operators can determine if their aircraft qualifies by visiting Rockwell Collins' ADS-B Out certifications tool at www.rockwellcollins.com/ads-b and selecting their aircraft make and model.

Validations are planned with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Transport Canada and Mexico's Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC).
