Samsung C&T Corporation has been selected as the contractor to build Xilin station and tunnels for Downtown Line (DTL) 3 Extension in Singapore by the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Under the USD$610 million civil engineering contract, Samsung C&T will be responsible for the construction of Xilin station and associated tunnels with a total length of 1.2km. The construction involves a relocation of a short section of the stream, currently running through the site. This section of Downtown Line 3 Extension will run along Xilin Avenue. The 2.2km Downtown Line 3 Extension will connect Downtown Line 3, East-West Line and future Thomson-East Coast lines that are currently under construction. Construction of Xilin station will begin in March 2016 and is expected to be completed by 2024.

'It is an honor to have an opportunity to work with the LTA again and to continue building upon our long-term relationship with them,' said Hans Whang, the head of Samsung C&T's Civil Infrastructure Business Unit. 'Based on our priorities of safety and quality, Samsung C&T will draw upon its extensive civil infrastructure experience and expertise to deliver outstanding results for the project,' he added.

Samsung C&T has extensive experience in delivering a number of rail and metro projects worldwide, including Singapore. The company was awarded Marine Parade station of Thomson-East Cost Line in November 2015 and is currently working on the construction of the Downtown Line 3's Expo and Tampines East stations, as well as the TEL's Caldecott station that interchanges with the Circle Line. Samsung C&T will continue to successfully execute projects with its sound partners across the region and emphasize mutual growth with communities.
