Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (005930.SE) on Monday named Roh Tae-moon, 51, a chief developer of its flagship Galaxy mobile devices, to lead its smartphone segment in a regular management reshuffle.
The tech giant retained D.J. Koh as head of its IT & mobile communications division, which supervises both smartphone and network-equipment segments, in a shakeup which affected nine executives.
Samsung Electronics shares are 2.5% higher, hitting another intra-day high on expectations for a recovery in the global tech industry and better corporate earnings going forward.
