WALLDORF - SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) is helping thyssenkrupp Presta Steering take digital transformation and integration to the next level in its production processes and systems.

In 2018, as part of its digital factory strategy, thyssenkrupp Presta opted for SAP Manufacturing Suite, which is powered by SAP Leonardo. Its decision to adopt end-to-end shop-floor management was influenced by the flexibility and integration the SAP software offers, paired with a future-proof technology and system architecture.

thyssenkrupp Presta AG belongs to and is the management company of the thyssenkrupp Steering business unit. Located in Liechtenstein, the automotive component supplier enjoys an excellent reputation in the manufacture of electromechanical steering systems.

Better Efficiency and Transparency

In choosing SAP Manufacturing Suite, thyssenkrupp Presta Steering is implementing an advanced, scalable cloud/on-premise hybrid solution that will support it in its quest to transform and bring digital technologies to its global manufacturing operations. Its key goals are to increase transparency and traceability across the global manufacturing process, grow efficiency and effectiveness in production facilities and shop floor processes, raise general levels of quality and reduce error rates by providing real-time information.

'SAP is a reliable and strong partner in software for manufacturing,' said Patrick Vith, chief operating officer at thyssenkrupp Presta Steering. 'SAP Manufacturing Suite gives us a one-stop, flexible solution with a state-of-the-art user interface.'

Milestone in Digital Transformation

The solution package implemented by thyssenkrupp Presta consists of SAP Manufacturing Suite, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP Cloud Platform components. The first pilots are already live at the thyssenkrupp Presta France factory, and further go-lives are planned for May 2019 at the main production facility in Liechtenstein. Once the pilot implementation phase is complete, global roll-out across all plants will begin.

'With SAP Manufacturing Suite, powered by SAP Leonardo, thyssenkrupp Presta Steering has chosen a truly top-class solution to control its repetitive manufacturing processes and infuse them with digital technologies,' said Alexander Waldi, senior vice president and head of Manufacturing and Automotive at SAP Deutschland SE & Co. KG. 'The trust thyssenkrupp Presta Steering has placed in us confirms our belief that to remain viable in the future, companies in the manufacturing industry need to have a clear digital transformation strategy.'
