MTN Ghana : supports 2019 Techiman "Apoo” Festival

Techiman (B/E), Mar.15, GNA – MTN Ghana, the country’s largest telecommunication company haspresented Gh¢5,000.00 and assorted drinks in support of this year’s celebrationof the “Apoo” festival by the chiefs and people of Techiman in thenewly-created Bono East Region.

The Company alsopresented Gh¢500.00 worth of airtime to the chiefs, as the people prepare tomark the 2019 festival in April.

Mr. Osei Akoto, theNorthern Sector Commercial Manager of MTN Ghana said the presentation formedpart of the Company’s corporate social responsibility programme towards thepreservation of the country’s traditional and cultural heritage.

“MTN acknowledges andappreciates contributions of traditional authorities as key developmentpartners and we are happy to support this and other festivals because they giveus the opportunity to showcase our rich cultural heritage as a nation”, hesaid.

Mr. Akoto explainedMTN had declared 2019 as the “Customer Year”, and assured its customers ofimproved, excellent and quality telecommunication services.

He indicated that morethan four million people had directly and indirectly benefited from over 142development projects initiated and executed by the MTN Ghana nationwide.

Such investmentsspread across health, education and economic empowerment, Mr. Akoto added.

Nana Korsahkore TopiaII, the Gyaasehene of Techiman Traditional Area who received the donation onbehalf of Oseadeeyo Akumfi IV, the Paramount Chief of Techiman thanked MTNGhana for its continuous support towards the celebration of the festival, andappealed to the Company to extend the activities of the MTN Foundation tobenefit the people of Techiman.

He also appealed toother corporate bodies to support either in cash or kind to make thecelebration successful.
