Schroders : names Rory Bateman as Head of Equities

Schroders is today announcing that Rory Bateman, who has led the firm's UK and European Equities investment desks for five years, has been appointed Head of Equities from March 2019.

Rory, who joined Schroders 10 years ago, will oversee Schroders' equities teams globally, comprising of £173.1 billion* in assets under management.

He will assume the responsibilities previously managed by Nicky Richards, who will become a Senior Adviser for the firm from March 2019. This move, which will entail a comprehensive handover, underpins Schroders' commitment to developing and promoting its in-house talent with the ultimate aim of better serving its clients.

Since 2013 Rory has been Head of the UK and European Equities team and was formally the co-manager of SISF European Large Cap Fund at Schroders, which today manages over €45 billion on behalf of our clients across multiple strategies.

As a senior adviser Nicky, who has been running Schroders' equities investment business globally since re-joining the firm in 2014, will draw upon her knowledge and experience to mentor and advise Schroders' leaders and managers across the group.

Having joined the firm as a graduate trainee, Nicky spent 16 years at Schroders before leaving in 2003, ahead of making a return 11 years later.

She has been named one of the most influential women in finance by publication Financial News six times in total - and for the past four years in succession.

Schroders is actively looking to draw on its pool of in-house investment talent by making an internal appointment to replace Rory. Schroders will make an announcement on Rory's successor in 2019.
