  • More than 1,500 participants have taken part in the Berlin Social Academy since 2013.
  • CFO Christian Gisy: "Together with the Berlin Social Academy and our partners, we are already offering help for self-help in the sixth year. That's well received."

Berlin, October 15, 2018 - From October 15 to 18, 2018, the Berlin Social Academy (BSA) will enter a new round. Over four days, 36 continuing education courses, lectures and workshops are planned throughout the city. Knowledge on topics such as social media, project management, marketing and fundraising will be imparted. Over 550 participants from around 150 non-profit organisations and social startups are expected. The patron of the event is Sawsan Chebli, State Secretary for Citizenship and International Affairs at the State of Berlin. The organizers are Scout24, Scholz & Friends Reputation, B.Z., Zalando and Microsoft Germany. Around 20 other Berlin companies and social startups support the BSA pro bono with workshops and lectures.

"Since 2013, the Berlin Social Academy has become an integral part of Scout24's social commitment. Together with our partners, we are already offering help for self-help for social institutions and NGOs in its sixth year. That's a success," says Christian Gisy, CFO of Scout24 AG.

The BSA programme is divided into two main areas. The area of knowledge transfer consists of the extensive course programme with workshops and lectures. The courses for this take place at the various supporting and partner companies of the BSA. In the second focal point, the Berlin Social Academy serves as a platform to facilitate an exchange between business, politics and committed civil society and to establish contacts. Therefore a Social Networking Event takes place on 16 October, which serves as forum to exchange itself and develop together new visions for civil commitment. The network event will be hosted by Microsoft Germany.

About Berlin Social Academy

Many employees of non-profit organisations need specific specialist knowledge for their voluntary work, but do not have sufficient financial means to acquire this knowledge through further training. Due to the increased demand of many social partners at Scout24, the idea of a Social Academy was born in order to provide non-profit organisations with expert knowledge from the companies on a pro bono basis. The first Berlin Social Academy took place in 2013. The organisers in 2018 are Scout24, Scholz & Friends Reputation, B.Z., Zalando and Microsoft Germany. Other companies support the BSA pro bono with workshops and lectures. The BSA is the first Berlin-wide cooperation project of the Berlin business community to support local civil society.
