HOUSTON (AP) _ Service Corp. International (SCI) on Wednesday reported first-quarter profit of $81.9 million.

On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had net income of 45 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 43 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 45 cents per share.

The funeral home and cemetery operator posted revenue of $803 million in the period.

Service Corp. shares have decreased 15% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $39, a drop of 7% in the last 12 months.
