News Tablet app gains popularity and recognition among readers

Within a month of launching the News Tablet app, which allows readers to access e-paper editions of Lianhe Zaobao, Lianhe Wanbao and Shin Min Daily News coupled with a seamless digital experience, over 3,800 subscriptions were received.

Among them is retiree Mdm Chua Chye Boon, who subscribed to the package for her 97-year-old father. She said: 'The package allows me to read three publications, and the tablet screen size is also relatively big and thus good for us.'

'My father has always been reading the print copies, but when he learned about using the tablet to read the news, he was very interested in it.' Mdm Chua adds.

The app is preloaded on the latest Samsung Tab A 10' Wi-Fi tablet (retail price: $398), which subscribers will receive for free when they sign up for a 2-year package at $19.90 per month. Existing subscribers can also top up $14.90 per month to enjoy this deal.

The app features an auto-login which does not require a password after activation. It also auto downloads the latest e-paper in a wi-fi environment for the subscriber to read on the go and share interesting articles and advertisements with family and friends on social media. Each e-paper is archived for 14 days.

In a survey conducted with over 700 respondents who are also subscribers of the News Tablet package, 65% indicated that '14 days e-paper access' is one of their reasons for subscribing. Over half of the respondents are also drawn to the auto-login feature. 33% of the respondents said that they subscribed to the package for their parents, spouses, children and other family members.
