Singapore, 24 April 2019 - Beneficiaries from the Singtel Touching Lives Fund (STLF) were presented with a cheque of S$3 million today which goes towards their programmes for special education students. This brings the total sum raised to date to more than S$42 million since Singtel's flagship philanthropy programme started in 2002 to drive positive and sustainable changes to disadvantaged communities, especially vulnerable children and youth.

Mr Yuen Kuan Moon, Chairman of STLF and CEO Consumer Singapore at Singtel, said, 'As a long-term supporter of children and youth with special needs, we're glad that our efforts continue to benefit the community. Our beneficiaries have been able to expand their meaningful work thanks to the strong support of our business partners, customers, the public and our staff over the years. The impact has been far-reaching, giving students the opportunities and support to achieve their best.'

Mr Phillip Tan, Chairman of Community Chest, said, 'We are deeply grateful for Singtel's exemplary sustained support to Community Chest through the Singtel Touching Lives Fund. Over the past 16 years, the Fund has had a great positive impact in touching and empowering thousands of lives including children with special needs and youth-at-risk. We look forward to their continued support this year, where their impact would be further maximised under the Bicentennial Community Fund, as the Government will provide a matching on 20% of total donations to Community Chest from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020.'

The funds were raised from a series of activities including Singtel's annual charity golf event, donations from staff and fundraising through sale of merchandise. This was matched dollar for dollar by Singtel, and all fundraising costs were underwritten to ensure that every dollar received goes to the STLF's six beneficiaries APSN Chaoyang School, APSN Delta Senior School, APSN Tanglin School, Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore School, Eden School and MINDS Lee Kong Chian Gardens School.

Prior to the cheque presentation, students and teachers from the beneficiaries had a day of fun at Singtel Comcentre, enjoying a specially catered lunch as well as a movie screening.
