Skanska USA announced Sept. 17, that Dale Kopnitsky has been named executive vice president and general manager for the greater DC Metro area. Kopnitsky was previously Skanskas vice president of preconstruction services, a position he has held since joining Skanska in 2013.

It would be nearly impossible to find an executive better prepared for this crucial role than Dale Kopnitsky, said Kerim Evin, regional executive officer for Skanskas East Coast US building operations. With more than 30 years of local experience, Dale knows the intricacies of this market and will draw on his many lasting relationships with the regions leading clients and subcontractors. Equally impressive is his ability to build and motivate effective teams and nurture the growth of individuals within our organization. He is a team-builder and true leader.

Born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Kopnitsky has lived in the DC area since 1987 where he has built a trusted reputation throughout the building industry. His varied portfolio includes projects for notable colleges and universities, federal buildings, healthcare facilities, sporting arenas, residential buildings, office complexes and data centers. A graduate of the University of Maryland University College, Kopnitsky holds a bachelors degree in finance. He is a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors Metro Washington Chapters board of directors, and a member of the Washington Building Congresss board of governors.

In conjunction with Kopnitskys new role there are two addition changes in the leadership in the greater Washington region. Pamela Murray Johnson has been promoted to account manager and Tony Pereira to executive director of preconstruction.

An engineer by training, Pamela Murray Johnson is a 33-year industry veteran who has worked as a developer, design engineer, program manager, builder, and, most recently, as a vice president. Since joining Skanska in 2012, Johnson has overseen the construction of several school projects for the District of Columbia Department of General Services to add to her impressive portfolio of prominent Maryland and DC projects, including the Duke Ellington Bridge and DC Superior Courthouse renovations. She has also worked throughout Europe on a Department of Defense contract for the Pentagon to determine necessary upgrades to facilities in Germany, Italy and Turkey.

Johnson is also a professional facilitator for Neighborworks, a federally-funded community empowerment institute, and has served as an adjunct faculty member for Northern Virginia Community College. She received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Howard University and earned her Professional Engineering designation in 1997.

Tony Pereira, with more than 30 years in the construction industry, has been promoted to Executive Director of Preconstruction for the greater DC Metro area. Previously a Preconstruction Director, Pereira has extensive experience providing clients with superior service across the construction management spectrum. He has built a reputation for solving complex problems with innovative solutions, building high performance teams and delivering results that exceed client expectations.

With a degree in business administration from IES Universidade S.A., in Brazil, Pereiras business credentials have been bolstered by his years of experience working to build both extraordinary projects and lasting relationships. He is a SAVE International certified Associate Value Specialist with expertise in a systematic and structured approach for improving projects, products and processes.

In a market as demanding as Washington, DC, where we deal with public and private institutions with incredible responsibilities, our ability to be a trusted partner to our clients is essential to our success, said Evin. We have full confidence that with Dale, Pamela and Tony at the helm, the trust and confidence our clients have in us will only grow and more remarkable projects will result.
