Skanska has, in a joint venture with McCourt Construction, signed a contract with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to rehabilitate the Chelsea Viaduct Bridge in Boston, MA, USA. The total contract is worth USD 169 M, about SEK 1.5 billion. Skanska USA will include its share of the contract worth USD 85 M, about SEK 770 M, in the U.S. order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2018.

The scope of work includes the rehabilitation of the Chelsea Viaduct Bridge that carries Route 1 over Fifth Street, Arlington Street, MBTA Commuter Rail, Spruce Street, Carter Street, and Orange Street, as well as the reconstruction of all approach roadways, and the rehabilitation of the Tobin Bridge upper deck over Chelsea Local Streets and Mystic River.

Construction is set to begin in December 2018 with completion scheduled for July 2021. The project architect is HNTB.
