Societe Generale SA (GLE.FR) said Wednesday that Deputy Chief Executive Didier Valet has resigned in order to "preserve the bank's general interest."
Mr. Valet's resignation is related to "a divergence of approaches regarding the management of a specific legal matter, which predates his appointment as deputy CEO," the bank said in a statement.
Societe Generale said it would announce his replacement shortly; in the meantime, his duties will be taken over by group Chief Executive Frederic Oudea.
Mr. Valet joined Societe Generale in 2000 and was named deputy chief executive in January 2017.
