Spok, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Spok Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPOK) and a global leader in healthcare communications, today announced that key executives will be participating in several upcoming events, including the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) annual meeting this week, and the Healthcare IT Institute and Association of Medical Director of Information Systems Physician-Computer Connection Symposium (AMDIS PCC Symposium) in June.

“A common challenge hospitals face today is having numerous, disjointed communication solutions that lack integration for optimal care team communication,” said Vincent D. Kelly, president and chief executive officer of Spok Holdings, Inc. “At these events, we will discuss why this approach can create inefficiencies, higher costs, and frustration. Spok will demonstrate how an enterprise-wide communication platform can make care team collaboration easier and help improve patient outcomes.”

During AONE, April 10-13 in San Diego, Spok chief nursing officer Dr. Nat’e Guyton, RN, MSN, CPHIMS, NE-BC, will present a Sunrise Session to nurse leaders titled “How to Leverage Technology to Prioritize Care Delivery.” Mobile devices help streamline care, but it’s a challenge for nurses to know if an alarm or notification is critical, high, normal, or low priority. Dr. Guyton will share how an integrated communication platform can help nurses leverage devices and systems for care prioritization, which reduces alarm fatigue and improves nurse retention.

At the Healthcare IT Institute event, June 2-4 in San Antonio, Darrell Messersmith, chief medical information officer and chief information officer at Vail Health, will present a session titled “Vail Health Takes a Future-focused, Workflow-driven Approach to Improve Communications.” He will share his experience implementing a unified platform that improves care collaboration throughout the health system, including strategies employed and lessons learned.

Spok executives will discuss clinical workflow challenges and explore the future of healthcare communications with physicians and other clinical leaders in a focus group at the AMDIS PCC Symposium, held June 18-21 in Ojai, California.

At all three events, speakers will focus on how an enterprise communication platform, such as Spok Care Connect®, can solve many of the communication challenges hospitals face today. For more information on Spok Care Connect, visit spok.com.
