Monday, January 14th saw the front-month NYMEX Natural Gas Futures Contracts open at $3.410, thirty-one cents above Friday's closing price of $3.099. Following a brief drop to the intraday low of $3.338 at 9:10AM, prices surged higher to surpass $3.500 an hour later. Supported by cold temperatures covering the northeast and forecasts for storms and additional cold into next week, the contract seesawed along the $3.50 mark until launching to $3.600 ahead of 2:00PM. Tallying a near three-week intraday high of $3.605 ahead of closing, February finished higher on Monday at $3.591.

This morning in Globex, WTI Crude was up 67 cents; Natural Gas was unchanged; Heating Oil was up one cent; and Gasoline was up two cents. Additionally, cash prices were higher in New York and New England.
