YANGON, Myanmar- Sept. 23, 2016-Spreadtrum Communications ('Spreadtrum'), a leading fabless semiconductor company in China with advanced technology in 2G, 3G, and 4G wireless communication standards, today announced that its WCDMA//HSPA (+) chipsets SC7731C and SC7731G have been adopted by Burmese leading mobile operator Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications('MPT') for its latest flagship smartphone models M40 and M50, which have been launched into the market.

As MPT was mapping out the strategy for their smartphones, for the flagships models, M40 andM50, they decided to go with Spreadtrumhighly integrated WCDMA//HSPA(+) chipset to best meet the needs of the user base in Myanmar. As a result, the premium-build M50 adopts Spreadtrum28nmWCDMA/HSPA(+) /GSM/GPRS/EDGE chipset SC7731G with an embedded quad-core1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A7 processor. It features a double-sided glass separated by metal frame design, a 5-inch HD on-cell 2.5D curved glass touchscreen, 1G RAM, 8GB storage, an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. It is pre-installed with the Android 5.1, supporting dual-card-two-standby.
Based on the Spreadtrum quad-core1.2GHzARM Cortex-A7WCDMA/HSPA(+) /GSM/GPRS/EDGEchipset SC7731C, the entry-level M40 supports dual-card-two-standby and features a 4 inch 800×480 pixels touch screen, 512 M RAM, 4GB storage, a 2 MP rear camera.

MPT is the first as well as the largest telecommunications services provider in Myanmar, with 8,000 employees and a vast nationwide data network. Having formed a strategic alliance with leading Japanese mobile operator KDDI and with Sumitomo Corporation in 2014, it plans to invest USD2 billion and bring in advanced operations and management experience to promote the development of 2G, 3G and 4G mobile networks as well as a fixed-line network.
