OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) _ Sprint Corp. (S) on Monday reported a fiscal third-quarter loss of $120 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Overland Park, Kansas-based company said it had a loss of 3 cents.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 5 cents per share.

The wireless carrier posted revenue of $8.08 billion in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Twelve analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $8.19 billion.

The company's shares closed at $4.83. A year ago, they were trading at $6.18.
