The winning entry

Entitled 'Immediate implant placement and peri-implant augmentation with a porcine-derived acellular dermal matrix (Mucoderm®) and synthetic bone (Maxresorb®) in the esthetic area', Dr Papi's winning submission covers 15 single-tooth replacements in the front of the mouth, performed in 15 patients up to 8 weeks after tooth extraction. A guided-bone regeneration procedure, using a synthetic bone-graft together with a 3-dimensional matrix was performed in each case to build up bone around the implant. Dr Papi's work shows that the contour and attachment of the gingiva around the implant was successfully augmented and remained stable after 12 months. His entry will be published on STARGET, https://www.straumann.com/en/discover/news.html.
