RIGA, March 5 (LETA) - Mobile operator Tele2 has established a subsidiary, Baltic Shared Services Center (Baltic SSC), that will provide IT infrastructure and mobile network monitoring and security services to Tele2 mobile operators in all three Baltic states, Tele2 spokesman in Latvia, Oskars Firmanis, told LETA.

He said that the new company will employ about 100 specialists. The new company's board will include Arvids Jegers, who is also a board chairman, and Tele2 financial director Arnis Prieditis.

Tele2 board chairman Valdis Vancovics said that the Baltic mobile communications market is developing faster and more dynamically than in Sweden, where Tele2 group operates, therefore more autonomous decision making is necessary so that the new services can be introduced faster and more efficiently.

"We are glad that this organization will be located in Latvia and under our supervision because it will ensure better conditions for fast reaction to everyday situation. It will also mean new jobs for local specialists," he said.

As reported, Tele2 posted EUR 130.5 million in preliminary turnover last year, which is 4 percent more than in 2018, while the company's profit amounted to EUR 31.66 million.

Tele2, registered in 1995, has a share capital of EUR 3.486 million. Its sole owner is Sweden's Tele2 Sverige Aktiebolag.
