Sparkle, the International Services arm of TIM Group and among the top ten global operators, announces the adoption of energy efficient Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery technology for uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), in its Istanbul Data Center making it the most environmental-friendly in Turkey.

Sparkle Istanbul Data Center is the first in the country to use Li-ion batteries, offering unique benefits both in terms of sustainability and in terms of space available for its customers, who can expand their collocated servers.

Compared with the traditional lead-acid batteries commonly used in UPSs today, Li-ion batteries offer double the lifespan with 60-80% reduced weight and about one-third of the footprint. Moreover, Li-ion batteries do not require ventilation, resulting in reduced cooling capacity and environmental impact.

Located in Yenibosna, Sparkle's Data Center is one of the largest and most important open colocation facilities in Turkey, featuring best in-market technologies and sophisticated monitoring systems and is served by Seabone, Sparkle's Tier 1-grade Global IP Transit service.

Sparkle plans to further expand its investment in Data Center and Cloud computing services in Istanbul for improved sustainability and efficiency, to provide its customers with the most secure and state-of-the-art technological environment for their mission critical IT systems.
