Telus Corp. on Thursday said it has begun rolling out its first wave of 5G service, targeting Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and the Greater Toronto area.

The company also said it plans to expand the service to 26 additional markets in Canada this year.

The company's 5G service "will be available at no additional cost on Telus Peace of Mind plans with endless data and no overage fees."

Also on Thursday, Telus said it selected Samsung as a network infrastructure partner. Samsung will join Ericsson and Nokia in building Telus's 5G network, the company said.
