SAN RAMON, Calif. (AP) _ The Cooper Cos. (COO) on Thursday reported fiscal second-quarter profit of $11.5 million.

On a per-share basis, the San Ramon, California-based company said it had profit of 23 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $1.51 per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.13 per share.

The surgical and contact lens products maker posted revenue of $524.9 million in the period, which also did not meet Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $583.3 million.

Cooper Cos. shares have dropped slightly more than 2% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $313.86, a climb of 1% in the last 12 months.
