Aveda Corp. said it will recall a brand of its eyelash serum after the company found a preservative in the cosmetic might fail to protect against some microorganisms.
The Estee Lauder Cos. (EL) brand said Tuesday it will recall all of its Lash Abundance Boosting Serum, saying the product poses a heightened risk to consumers with pre-existing cornea conditions, users of permanent or extended-wear contact lenses or people with weakened immune systems.
Aveda distributed the product through preview samples before putting it on sale Feb. 12 in the U.S., Canada and Australia. The products also were sold in some European markets starting March 1.
Estee Lauder shares were recently off 1.7% at $57.86 Tuesday, in line with a decline in the broader market.
