TEPCO conducted an investigation inside the pedestal for Unit 2 Primary Containment Vessel (PCV) Investigation on January 30, 2017 and announced the radiation level inside the PCV based on the analysis of the image noise on February 2. However there were inaccurate reports regarding the radiation level surrounding the Nuclear Power Station, and we wish to clarify the followings.

1.The radiation level of inside the PCV in Unit 2 at Fukushima Daiichi that we announced on February 2 is a result of analysis of the image noise obtained from the investigation inside the PCV.
2.Based on TEPCO analysis, TEPCO announced the radiation level of 530-siverts at most but this data was obtained from inside the PCV of the reactor building in Unit 2. And the figures of monitoring posts and dust monitors in the site of Fukushima Daiichi have been stable. Therefore, there has been no change in radiation level.
The data of real-time radiation level of the monitorings at Fukushima Daiichi is shown at

3.As for the result of this investigation, we plan on evaluating it by also considering the result of the investigation using self-propelled device (robot investigation) scheduled to be conducted within this month.

As the removal of fuel debris is an unprecedented challenge, we would like to proceed with the next investigation of building on the information obtained each time.
