AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ USA Compression Partners LP (USAC) on Tuesday reported a loss of $602.5 million in its first quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Austin, Texas-based company said it had a loss of $6.36. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 4 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 2 cents per share.

The natural gas compression services company posted revenue of $179 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $174 million.

USA Compression shares have fallen 57% since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased 52% in the last 12 months.
