22 October 2019 - Projects update and handover - France

Eurovia is continuing to roll out Power Road®, the road to positive energy, with two new projects.

The solution uses the asphalt surfacing of a road to capture solar heat, store it and transfer it to nearby buildings and infrastructure. It will be used for the first time in France to heat a tertiary building in Olonzac in the Hérault department, which opened in early October and is occupied by the roads department and the forest fire brigade. The technology will be installed at a nearby 400-m2 car park and will be used to boost heating and improve cooling in 720 m2 of offices and workshops for 27 occupants. Power Road® will therefore reduce CO2 emissions by 6 tonnes per year. The building also uses photovoltaic panels and geothermal probes.
In Corrèze, the 660 m2 of Power Road® asphalt surfacing is connected to the Égletons district heating system and will make it possible to remove snow and ice from the road.
