  Visa Inc. on Wednesday said Chris Newkirk is joining in the newly created position of chief strategy officer. 


  Mr. Newkirk comes to Visa from Capital One Financial Corp., where he held multiple leadership roles, most recently as president of Small Business, International & Walmart Partnership, Visa said, adding he joined Capital One in 2008 and, since 2016, has served on Capital One's Executive Committee. 


  In his new role with Visa, Mr. Newkirk "will lead the Corporate Strategy organization to drive strategic planning for Visa overall, and in partnership with Visa's regional teams. He will be a member of the Executive Committee and report to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Al Kelly," Visa said. 


   Mr. Newkirk will begin work at Visa on June 15, the company said.
