From 4 to 6 May 2018, the Verband Schweizerischer Sportartikellieferanten (Association of Swiss Sporting Goods Suppliers) will be holding the fifth edition of this professional golf tournament for women on the Gams-Werdenberg golf course. VP Bank took over the patronage of this high-profile tournament in 2017, also becoming its title sponsor. This close collaboration with an international tournament in the local region will significantly increase our perception both as a first-class banking institution and as a reliable partner. Alongside existing partnerships with the Gams-Werdenberg golf club and the Golf Club Bad Ragaz, with this golfing commitment, VP Bank has established a strong positioning within the golfing world. «Through our involvement as the primary sponsor, we are bringing a high-quality golf tournament to our home region, where young talent can grow and professional golf players can compete on an international stage,» explains Christoph Mauchle, member of Group Executive Management of VP Bank Group, on the reasoning behind this partnership.

Since its debut, the VP Bank Ladies Open at the Gams-Werdenberg golf club has been one of the most popular tournaments of the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS), offering prize money of EUR 40,000. From the very beginning, the tournament has received positive feedback from players and tour operators alike. Melanie Mätzler, tournament ambassador and LETAS player, explains why: «The organisation is second to none, the course varied and the field of participants strong. This is all greatly appreciated by the professionals, who hail from over 25 different countries.»
After the long winter break, the VP Bank Ladies Open is an important test of form. As a result, starting places, which were increased to 132 in 2018, are in high demand. Last year's winner, Finn Linda Henriksson, who delivered a nerve-wracking play-off against Russian Nina Pegova in 2017, will also be teeing off this year.
