INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) announced that through its subsidiary Japan Oil Development, Co., Ltd. (JODCO), it has reached a memorandum of understanding on a one billion yen sponsorship of teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi with the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi is a cultural venue and experiential art space based on teamLab's 'environmental phenomena' concept. It is being developed by DCT Abu Dhabi in partnership with Miral, Abu Dhabi's leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences, and Tokyo-based international art collective teamLab. Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2024 in Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Cultural District.

Saadiyat Cultural District is currently home to the world-famous Louvre Abu Dhabi. Several key projects in addition to teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi are under construction in the district including the Zayed National Museum, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi.
INPEX, through JODCO, is engaged in the development and production of crude oil in the UAE while contributing to society and local communities through educational, environmental and cultural programs. JODCO is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its establishment this year and plans to strengthen its social contribution activities.
As part of this, JODCO will sponsor teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, an experiential art space contributing to the enrichment of the UAE's cultural landscape. Going forward, JODCO will pursue the execution of an official sponsorship agreement following discussions on specific terms. After the opening of teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, the company intends to invite Emirati youth to the art space to contribute to the development of their curiosity and imagination. This sponsorship initiative is part of INPEX's efforts to strengthen its social contribution activities in the UAE, alongside the establishment of the INPEX JODCO Foundation1 announced on January 26, 2023, and the launch of a program2 announced by the INPEX Scholarship Foundation on July 29, 2022, that provides scholarships to Emirati students studying in Japan and Japanese students studying in the UAE.
INPEX positions Abu Dhabi as one of its core business areas and will strive to help maintain and strengthen the cordial relations between the UAE and Japan by proactively engaging in the development and production of crude oil and social contribution activities.
