Biography of Bernard Tapie 
Politician, businessman, actor, singer, Bernard Tapie is on the French media scene for thirty years. The explication: his career of self-taught, his businesses resounding, his cheeky humor and his escapades.

His chasten molded his career. Bernard Tapie said that his military service was for him an opportunity to size up his potential.

Car salesman for a little while, he went in for a career in television’s sales. When he started, he did house-to-house.

Quickly, Bernard Tapie understands that buying companies in agony in order to resell it, after having dismantled or upraised he can generates profits. This strategy becomes his philosophy. He starts with a factory of batteries “Leclanché Wonder”.

Bernard Tapie wants to created a global leader on the market for batteries so he partnered with Francis Bouygues to buy SAFT-Mazda and sells it back in 1988 to the American businessman Ralston, owner of Energizer.

Bernard Tapie is a big entrepreneur, a strength which allowed him to get different companies as Teraillon, Testut or Manufrance. But the most famous case was Adidas; the story ends up as media-judicial saga.

In July 1990, Bernard Tapi’s acquires Adidas, an investment of 1.6 billion francs financed by SDBO, a subsidiary of Credit Lyonnais, which takes the opportunity to enter in the capital of Adidas.
In 1992, Adidas enters a loss of 500 million francs. In 1994 the Crédit Lyonnais decides to resell the company for 4.6 billion French francs (701 million) to Robert Louis-Dreyfus, already present in board of directors. Bernard Tapie feels unseat and takes them to court.

This story ended in 2009. Bernard Tapie won 101 million euros of damages.
