Mercedes-Benz Group on Wednesday named Andrew Cornelia chief executive of its North American charging business and said Christopher Trainor will be the unit's chief financial officer.

The German car maker said the two executives will head up the launch and operations of Mercedes-Benz HPC North America, a network of around 400 charging stations available to owners of all electric-vehicle brands that will be up and running by 2030.

Both appointments will be effective in June, Mercedes-Benz said.

Cornelia has more than 10 years of experience in electric vehicles and charging, including at Tesla. Trainor has more than 30 years of experience in corporate finance and has been with Mercedes-Benz since 2002, the company said.
