Communications services companies ticked up as traders hedged their bets on the outlook for growth in the sector.

Venu Sports, the sports streaming venture from Fox, Disney's ESPN and Warner Bros. Discovery, will cost fans $42.99 a month, and will air National Football League, Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League and collegiate athletics when it launches in the fall.

Churchill Downs, which owns the storied Kentucky Derby, plans to concentrate investment in its brick-and-mortar gaming facilities rather than its race-tracks. Churchill Downs is seeing visits to the gaming venues growing despite an apparent economic slowdown.

"Vice" businesses such as casinos, liquor and tobacco are known for their resilience in times of recession.

Broadcaster Don Lemon is suing Elon Musk and X for breach of contract after the owner of the social-media platform canceled a short-lived partnership deal following a testy interview.
