French Manufacturing Sector Sentiment Rises in April

Sentiment in the French manufacturing sector has risen in April, beating expectations, the French national statistics office said Thursday.

Figures from Insee's monthly survey showed manufacturing sentiment reached 104 in April compared with a revised level of 99 in March.

The April reading is above economists' forecast of 99 in a survey conducted by The Wall Street Journal.

Those surveyed in the sector were more optimistic regarding order books, personal perspectives of production and past production, Insee said.
