He is also an Independent Non-Executive Director at Chemanex Plc, Hemas Holdings Plc, Elpitiya Plantations Plc, and Hayleys Fibre PLC.
Additionally, he serves as a Director at Link Natural Products (Pvt) Ltd., the Postgraduate Institute of Management, Alpha Industries Pvt Ltd., the Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka, the Institute of Certified Professional Managers, and the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka.
In the past, Dr. Ekanayake held positions such as Chairman at The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Chairman at the Industrial Association of Sri Lanka, and Independent Non-Executive Chairman at Asia Siyaka Commodities Plc.
He also served as Chairman and Director-General Public Administration at the International Natural Rubber Council, Chairman of the Plantation Housing & Social Welfare Trust, and Independent Non-Executive Director at Richard Pieris & Co. Plc and Maskeliya Plantations Plc.
Furthermore, he held positions at Sri Lanka State Plantations Corp., the Sri Lanka Ministry of Plantation Industries, Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd., Janatha Estates Development Board, the Sri Lanka Ministry of Public Administration & Local Govt, the Post Graduate Institute of Agriculture, and the Tea Research Board.
Dr. Ekanayake obtained a doctorate degree from the Australian National University and completed undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Peradeniya.
