Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (President: Yoshio Haga, "Nippon Paper Industries") announces that it will install photovoltaic facility/solar power facility (approximately 826 kW capacity, Note) by effectively using part of the Otake Mill site (Otake City, Hiroshima Prefecture). Construction will start in November 2013, and by using the feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme for renewable energy, Nippon Paper Industries will sell electric power to the Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc. (President and Director: Tomohide Karita, Head Office: Hiroshima City, Hiroshima; "Chugoku Electric Power") from February 2014.

Nippon Paper Industries is actively cultivating new business, particularly in the energy business, one of the Group's sources of profit, as a comprehensive biomass company aiming to achieve sustainable growth. Nippon Paper Industries is currently developing a mega-solar project (joint business with Mitsubishi Corporation) at its site in Komatsushima City, Tokushima Prefecture. The initiative to be taken at Otake Mill will for Nippon Paper Industries be the second project in the solar power generation business. The Company is determined to continue to effectively use its management resources in the future.
