Brill Publishes Three New Series in the Social Sciences October 29, 2019

Leiden / Boston / Paderborn / Singapore / Beijing

Brill is pleased to announce the addition 0f three new book series to its Social Sciences publishing program: New Scholarship in Political Economy, Studies in Mathematics in the Arts and Humanities, and Global Populisms.

The New Scholarship in Political Economy series is designed to showcase the research of recent scholars working in any field of the social sciences whose research is informed by the work of Karl Marx. The series editors seek interesting proposals for monographs, edited volumes, or recent PhDs that could be transformed into a monograph for publication. Authors should be in the early stages of their careers, with the expectation that a publication in this series will help promote their work while bringing attention to the latest scholarship within a critical political economy perspective.

In an age of numbers, intellectual and aesthetic partnerships between mathematicians and the contemporary arts, humanities, and entertainment worlds have become virtually routine. Movies, television shows, and websites built around, or involving, mathematics are now commonplace. Studies in Mathematics in the Arts and Humanities deals with all aspects of this partnership. The monographs and edited volumes of this book series explore all aspects of mathematics outside of mathematics itself, that is, as a cultural, aesthetic, and representational phenomenon.

Global Populisms aims to enhance and expand the rapidly emerging robust, transdisciplinary, and global research on populism. Prior research on populism is now being re-examined, stretched, and challenged as a new wave of populism sweeps the globe. How are current and historical manifestations of populism worldwide to be understood and analyzed? Global Populisms invites monographs and edited volumes that move the field in new directions, particularly by engaging other disciplines and identifying core cross-cutting themes. In short, the main purpose and objective of this series is to support subject-specific inquiries into the dynamics and effects of global populism and its varying impacts across, between, and within societies. Global Populisms is designed as a highly accessible book series aimed at introducing a large readership to the contemporary and historical field of 'populism studies.'
