Richard Pieris and Company PLC has been touching the lives of Sri Lankans all over the island for over 87 years. The 'Shilpa Labannata Lowak Dinannata' CSR project initiated by Richard Pieris and Company Group Chairman Dr. Sena Yaddehige is a testament of the groups commitment to instill education among children in the country.

The inauguration ceremony was held recently at the Nawinna Arpico Head Office, Auditorium. Dr. Sena Yaddehige was the Guest of Honour for the event and other management officials distributed booklist supplies inclusive of a school bag and water bottle to over 2,300 children of employees employed within the Richard Pieris Group.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Sena Yaddehige said: 'Our objective with this project was to inculcate the value of education among school children of all ages. Thus, providing an entire booklist including a school bag and water bottle to the children of our group company employees was a project we took great pride in.'

Dr. Yaddehige further stressed: 'Knowledge is the most valuable asset someone could possess, it is the only attribute that lives with you that nobody can take. As a company, we will make every stride to develop a nation with a hunger for education and therefore, we have introduced a special project to grant every school-going child belonging to our employees with English books that will enhance their knowledge in the English language.'

Following its inception in 2017, the Shilpa Labannata Lowak Dinannata's initiative further establishes the gratitude its company has towards their employees for the services rendered. It also provides over 2,300 employees with a sense of relief going in to a new calendar year when students are required to purchase an entire booklist for new school terms.

Richard Pieris and Company has experienced phenomenal success, growing into one of the top diversified business conglomerates in the country with interests in retail, plantations, rubber, furniture, tyres, plastics, automotive, insurance and financial services, construction and logistics.
