MCLEAN, Va. (AP) _ Gladstone Capital Corp. (GLAD) on Wednesday reported fiscal first-quarter net income of $698,000, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The McLean, Virginia-based company said it had net income of 2 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for investment costs, were 21 cents per share.

The real estate investment trust posted revenue of $12.2 million in the period.

Gladstone Capital shares have risen slightly more than 4% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $10.36, a rise of 17% in the last 12 months.
