Amsterdam - Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, today announced that Queensland Health, a department of the Government of Queensland, Australia which operates and administers the state's public health system, has selected Philips digital patient reported outcomes management software (QuestLink) for the State's public hospitals.

Queensland Health will deploy QuestLink in 120 hospitals across the state.

The software is a digital solution that collects, processes and analyses patient reported outcome measures and the experience of care measures. Via comprehensive dashboards, the software provides rich insight into treatment outcomes, patient-reported history and recovery and satisfaction data, with the aim to inform the most effective course of care. Currently only 2% of the healthcare quality measures involve patient reported outcomes [1]. With the move to value-based care these metrics will become increasingly important.

The software places the patient experience at the core and offers a digital solution focused on outcomes to deliver relevant input for shared decision support between clinicians and patients. Philips was one of the first to receive the ICHOM Certified Supplier Status by the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM), a non-profit organization with the mission to transform healthcare systems worldwide by measuring and reporting patient outcomes in a standardized manner.

The journey to delivering value-based care starts with understanding long-term outcomes. We are excited to partner with Queensland Health as a world-class health system placing the patients at the centre of care.

'The journey to delivering value-based care starts with understanding long-term outcomes. We are excited to partner with Queensland Health as a world-class health system placing the patients at the centre of care,' said Matt Moran, Managing Director, Philips Australia and New Zealand. 'We strongly believe that patient engagement solutions are an effective way to ensure the patient's voice is included as part of their care journey for a higher quality of care.'

Features of Philips Patient Reported Outcomes Management Software (Questlink) include: Improved clinical outcomes through automated alerts Response-based alerts allow for intervention scheduling when patient answers are outside acceptable ranges.

Improved patient experience through automated surveys - Easy access to questionnaires via desktop computer or mobile device encourages patient participation, engagement and ongoing adherence with procedure preparation and post-discharge instructions.

Automated engagement through individualized care plans - Numeric scores from patient-reported data are graphed to give care providers a quick overview of a patient's current condition and a comparison with previous results to support the patient's treatment plan.

Automated rules-based evaluation of patient responses - Patient survey data can be compared to normative values to monitor exceptions or alarming deviations from expected results. Data can be aggregated at the population level to research care plan effectiveness and identify new best practices.

Validated survey instruments - Our patient outcomes management solutions support hundreds of validated survey instruments including the internationally recognized ICHOM standards. Surveys can easily and automatically be administered based upon diagnostic or procedural codes, or as part of a pre-defined care path. This helps to ensure that providers and healthcare systems minimize the administrative burden related to outcomes measurement.

Philips continues to broaden its Population Health Management business with the integration of the acquisitions of Wellcentive population health analytics in 2016, and its most recent acquisition of VitalHealth care pathway management in 2017. 'VitalHealth provides a rich portfolio of telehealth applications for patient engagement, complementing our Wellcentive analytics solution. The combined portfolios enable healthcare providers to better identify and manage high-risk, high-cost and multi-morbidity patient populations,' said Derek Ross, Business Category Leader, Population Health Management at Philips. 'We're excited to see the global expansion of critical technology solutions like Philips Patient Reported Outcomes Management Software (QuestLink), as we strive to serve hospitals and payers as they transition to value-based care worldwide.'
