TOKAI RIKA CO., LTD. (Head Office: Oguchi-cho, Niwa-gun, Aichi, Japan. Kenji Miura, President) and Kimura Unity Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Nagoya, Aichi, Japan. Shoji Kimura, President) have started joint demonstration tests of a digital key system-based service for company vehicles. The digital key reserved via a mobile application is transmitted to the user's smartphone and used to lock or unlock the doors. This allows the use of company vehicles without the need to hand over and manage physical keys. Our two companies are planning to expand the scope of demonstration tests and commercialize the system in 2020.

As the definition of 'mobility' in the automotive industry evolves, expectations are moving beyond the traditional car as a means of transport into demand for new mobility services that enable sharing through the full use of information and communication technologies, including the cloud and mobile communication. We are actively finding new allies (partners) as part of our efforts to play a role in the realization of the mobility society. Kimura Unity, our partner for these tests, has experience in deploying vehicle management services.

This collaboration makes it possible to offer a new service that combines the Tokai Rika digital key distribution and Kimura Unity vehicle management technologies.

This service relies on a dedicated on-board communication module that makes it easy to perform aftermarket installations of the digital key system in a wide variety of vehicles.
