As covid-19 has spread in recent months, the ongoing work and commitment of the heroes in DSM's manufacturing and logistics teams make it possible to have food on store shelves and medical supplies in hospitals. Our worldwide presence, prior contingency planning, and the dedication of our employees, has meant we continue to fulfil these vital needs. We are humbled by our people's efforts but wanted to provide a broader update on how DSM is responding to the constantly evolving situation.

These are unprecedented and challenging times for everyone but some things do not change, especially our unrelenting commitment to health and safety. That is why we have in place extra measures over and above our usual protocols to protect our people, their families, and the wider community. These measures include:

  • A strict home-working policy for everyone whose job can be done remotely
  • Closing our factories to all non-workers and adding thermal testing for everyone on arrival
  • Reinforcing social distancing on site, using smaller teams on a rotating basis, and applying enhanced hygiene and cleaning routines
  • Suspending all international and domestic business travel unless absolutely critical

It is not, of course, business as usual for many people which is why we are also stepping up our efforts to help the fight against covid-19. We are proud that, for example, DSM teams are already distributing immunity-boosting vitamins and nutrients to first responders and health care professionals, to support the well-being of those on the front line of this crisis. We have also converted a manufacturing facility to produce disinfectant at scale, which is being donated to nearby hospitals. It is thanks to the support of our people, customers and partners that we are able to do this, so thank you.

Our dedicated global response team is monitoring the situation constantly, liaising with local authorities and organizations around the world. We will continue to anticipate and adapt to the challenges of covid-19, maintaining the continuity of our supplies and service where possible without compromising on health and safety.

We want to thank our people again for their continued dedication to our customers and society at large during these testing times. We're incredibly impressed and thankful at how everyone everywhere in DSM is responding, with such flexibility, understanding, and commitment. Our purpose of creating brighter lives through the application of bright science is more relevant now than ever. Together we stand strong. Take care.
